SOLICITATION OF PROPOSALS FOR THE 2000 AZ
ARCHAEOLOGY EXPO LOCATION as part of 2000
Arizona Archaeology Awareness Month

The Arizona State Historic Preservation Office
(AZ SHPO), Arizona State Parks, is requesting
proposals for voluntary hosting of the 2000
Arizona Archaeology Expo (Expo). Please submit a
written proposal describing your proposed Expo
host location to the SHPO by August 12, 1998. The
final decision will be made by the SHPO and a
delegated committee no later than September 12,1998.
Please include the following information in your
proposal:

1. Suggested location for the Archaeology Expo.

2. A brief statement as to why you feel this
location should be chosen for the 2000 Expo.

3. Management and staff capabilities as relate to
implementation of the 2000 Expo.

4. Auxillary activities associated with the central
Expo location (e.g., ongoing professional excavations
in the area or on-site, nearby archaeological site
tours, etc.)

5. A brief analysis of which dates during the month
of March, 2000 would work best for your facility
and area (please consider known local events that
might compete with, or could help draw in, visitor
attendance.)

6. Additional comments and ideas.

Please note that final dates for the 2000 Expo will be
chosen by the planning group present at the kick-off
planning meeting (which will occur roughly during the
month of May, 1999) for 2000 Arizona Archaeology
Awareness Month.

Please mail your proposal to:

Ann Valdo Howard, Public Archaeology Programs Manager
AZ State Historic Preservation Office
1300 W. Washington, Phoenix AZ 85007

Thank you for your interest! We appreciate your
willingness to host the 2000 Archaeology Expo at your
facility.
