Subject: Along The Santa Fe / Train Accident Near Crown King

[ AzTeC / SWA SASIG ] :

The website dedicated to Charles Elmer Titchenal
(1890-1969) tells the story of his life "Along The Santa
Fe," and recounts his days as a telegrapher and railroad
employee in exotic mining towns and railroad towns like
Crown King, Humboldt, Mayer, Drake, Parker, and Holbrook,
Arizona. The website recounts a tale of a Crown King
Train Accident, and, discusses medical treatment during
the great flu pandemic of 1918. Note how Arizona travel
has changed since the beginning of statehood. The website
also recounts early Statehood-period racial sterotypes
regarding Blacks and Native Americans. Historic
photographs of persons and locations are included.
