Date: Wed, 18 Mar 1998 Subject: Old Pueblo Archaeology Center Raffle [ AzTeC / SWA SASIG ] : From: Lynne Attardi Old Pueblo Archaeology Center Raffle Features Mimbres Designs Quilt, Rare Hopi "Shell Game," Kachina Dolls, etc. Several of OPAC's supporters (Carolyn O'Bagy Davis and her mother Barbara O'Bagy, Laurel and Paul Thornburg, Mike Chumbley, and Nathalie and Richard Woodbury) have recently donated unique art items to Old Pueblo to help raise funds for their wonderful nonprofit educational and research programs. Acting on their generosity, Old Pueblo's Board of Directors has decided to hold a fundraising raffle in which their donations will be given away as prizes. The Grand Prize will be a unique 84" x 94" quilt that features 30 different designs (silk-screened) from ancient black-on-white pottery bowls that were excavated from Mimbres Culture archaeological sites in southwestern New Mexico. Sewn by skilled quilters Carolyn O'Bagy Davis, Barbara O'Bagy, and Carole Collins, this Mimbres Quilt would retail for more than $1,000 if it were to be sold. The raffle will be held on September 10, 1998 (you don't have to be present). The tickets only cost $2 each or 6 for $10. All Southwestern art lovers, supporters of archaeological research, and raffle lovers are asked to support Old Pueblo Archaeology Center by buying as many tickets as you can. To obtain tickets, call 520/798-1201, or write: PO Box 40577, Tucson AZ 85717-0577. Email Al Dart.
