Message #210 Date: Tue, 14 Jul 1998 19:00:32 Subject: Cosgrove/Mimbres Exhibit Opening July 26 [ AzTeC / SWA SASIG ] : From: Carolyn O'Bagy Davis Cobagy@aol.com I am curating a Mimbres exhibit for the Silver City Museum (New Mexico). The Cosgrove/Mimbres exhibit will open at the Silver City Museum on July 26, 1-4 pm. It will be up through early 1999. The exhibit looks at Hattie Cosgrove's life as an early Silver City woman, the personal side of her life, and it also takes in her wonderful Mimbres archaeology. We have borrowed her incredible Mimbres drawings, along with some of the Mimbres bowls that she gave to MNA after her husband died in 1936. We have borrowed other archaeological materials from the Treasure Hill Foundation. There will be a recreation of the 1924 camp at Swarts ruin on the Mimbres River, photos, murals, Mimbres bowls, and Hattie's drawings. Burt Cosgrove is coming to Silver City for the opening--he is 92. The Arizona Archaeological and Historical Society has a field trip planned. The Museum's address is 312 West Broadway, Silver City, NM 88061 The phone # is 505-538-5921. The museum director is Susan Berry.
