Message #4: From: AzTeC SW Archaeology SIG To: "'Matthias Giessler'" Subject: Protohistoric Conference Ceramics Workshop Date: Mon Jan 5 20:27:33 1998 From: Mary-Ellen Walsh-Anduze Protohistoric Conference Ceramics Workshop An informal ceramic workshop is tentatively scheduled in conjunction with the upcoming "Transition from Prehistory to History in the Southwest" Conference. Because there are too many cultural areas for in-depth discussion, the workshop will be geared toward opening communications and will focus on: (1) how analysts distinguish protohistoric ceramics from prehistoric and historic materials; (2) how analysts distinguish one protohistoric type from another in a specific area; and (3) the nature of archaeological contexts in which so-called protohistoric ceramics are being identified? Don't forget to bring your sherds! Please contact Mary-Ellen Walsh-Anduze at Northland Research (602) 894-0020 or (602) 894-0957 (fax) or email@example.com by Feb. 1, 1998 if you are interested in participating in the workshop or have any questions or suggestions. The ceramic workshop is part of the Transition from Prehistory to History Conference (organized by Deni Seymour) to be held in Albuquerque Feb. 27-March 1. Tenatively, the workshop is scheduled for the evening on Saturday, Feb. 28.
