Message #26 From: AzTeC SW Archaeology SIG To: "'Matthias Giessler'" Subject: CO Archaeology and Historic Preservation Week 1998 Date: Wed, 21 Jan 1998 00:29:59 [ AzTeC / SWA SASIG ] : From: Todd McMahon Mark your calendars for May 9th-17th, 1998 as the Colorado Historical Society invites interested historic preservation organizations and archaeological groups to celebrate Archaeology and Historic Preservation Week. This week is used to highlight special projects and educational events from local historic and archaeological organizations in Colorado. Last year over 60 events were held throughout the state and ranged from a double decker bus tour to lectures on the archaeology of a particular region or topic. For 1998, grants of up to $200 will be made available to organizations needing financial assistance to hold an event. The grant money can be used to rent space, advertisements, purchase materials, etc. Early planning for the event is strongly encouraged. All organizations interested in obtaining grant money should complete an application form which can be obtained from the Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation, (303)866-3395. or it can be obtained from the internet on the Colorado Preservation Information Network homepage at: http://www.copin.org Look under COPIN News and select the grant information news item. The event grant application and a calendar of events form are available in a PDF format. The deadline for the return of the grant application is February 20, 1998. In order to have your event included in the offical event listing please fill out a Calendar of Events form. Your event will benefit by being included in the Colorado Historical Society's newpaper, listed in a special event brochure, posted on the internet and given increased publicity from the Colorado Historical Society. The deadline for event information is March 13, 1998. If you have any questions you can call Todd McMahon (303)866-4607 or by e-mail at email@example.com (put in the subject line Todd). Thanks.
