Subject: NRCS Requests Materials For Proposed CRM CD-ROM

[ AzTeC / SWA SASIG ] :

From: Teresa Paglione paglione@al.nrcs.usda.gov

I am looking for good examples and graphics
(maps/documents/photos/slides/videos) of
archeological site excavation and research that:

*confirm written history (like Little Big Horn -
Natives outnumbered troops and had better firepower/rifles)

*correct written history (also like Little Big Horn -
established Reno's and Benteen's whereabouts;
positions of troops and Natives)

*enhance written history (again Little Big Horn),

*provide examples of past solutions applicable
to present day problems (like ancient agricultural
practices being re-applied in South America - one
of SWANET's numerous, informative e-mailings that I
filed away)

We don't need "fantastic or nationally significant
examples" - we already have those covered. What I
would like are examples of regional or local
sites/research; explanations should not be more
than 10 or so lines - at the moment. The best
examples will be incorporated into the NRCS's new
Cultural Resources Training Modules (CD-ROM) -- soon.

The graphics cannot be proprietary (nothing
copyrighted unless you give us permission).
(graphics at this stage can be Xeroxed copies).

This is federally funded - and probably will be
available to anyone for the cost of CD and postage.
In other words, your tax dollars at work!

Please reply/send examples to me by E-mail or
snail-mail. Deadline is Friday May 2, 1998.
