The draft preliminary report from the Federal
Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) and National
Center for Preservation Technology and Training
(NCPTT) sponsored workshop on cultural resources
data standards is now available for review at:

http://colby.uwyo.edu/fgdcncptthome.html

We'd like your comments before the end of April
so please take a few minutes and check it out
now. You can email any of us directly with your
questions, suggestions, and comments.

Future plans for this project are:

(1) collect your comments and revise the
proposed standards;

(2) formalize the FGDC portion of the report as
a set of recommendations to the Cultural and
Demograophic Data Subcommittee;

(3) compile and place on the web site database
and GIS schemes currently used by various states;

(4) create sample implementations of the spatial
data model, attribute sets, etc.;

(5) under the NCPTT project:

- integrate ESRI Spatial Database Engine technology
into the New Mexico Cultural Resource Information
System based on the spatial data model developed at
the Workshop.

- develop ESRI ARCVIEW applications for spatial query
and update of NMCRIS.

Please feel free to contact any or all of us about
this project.
