Message #372: From: AzTeC SW Archaeology SIG To: "'Matthias Giessler'" Subject: Paseo del Norte Report & Legacy Brochure [ AzTeC / SWA SASIG ] : From: David A. Phillips Jr. Paseo del Norte Report -- As many of you know by now, the City of Albuquerque proposes to extend Paseo del Norte through Petroglyph National Monument. The National Park Service has said no, and in response Pete Domenici has introduced a bill to remove the road corridor from Park Service Control. I have now prepared a special report on the issue; this report will soon be going out to the members of NMAC. If anyone else out there wishes to receive a copy, please let me know. Brochure Available -- New Mexico Archaeological Council (NMAC) now has a large number of copies of a new brochure, "Our Fragile Legacy: Preserving the Spirit of Peoples Past and Present." This National Park Service brochure encourages people to discover but also respect the Native American heritage of the Southwest. If you would like a copy to examine, or would like multiple copies to put on display or include in teaching materials, please let me know how many copies you need and NMAC will send them to you!
