Message #203: From: AzTeC SW Archaeology SIG To: "'Matthias Giessler'" Subject: Uses For Faunal Bones That Will Not Be Curated Date: Fri, 30 May 1997 19:06:06 -0700 From: Shereen Lerner Archaeological Consulting Services, Ltd. is seeking individuals or research institutions interesting in acquiring faunal materials. ACS completed a year-long excavation of the Arizona Diamondbacks stadium area in downtown Phoenix. Extremely large numbers of faunal material were collected. The majority of the bone is associated with the historic period of downtown Phoenix (ranging in dates from the late 1800s to mid 1940s). While much of this material is being analyzed, not all of it can be curated. We have a curation agreement with the Phoenix Museum of History and they do not have the space to house all of the material. A select sample will be curated at the museum. We realize this is an unusual request but are looking to find a use for the faunal bones that cannot be curated. If you are interested in acquiring some of the collection for use in teaching or as a sample of varied types of animal bone used during the historic period, please contact Shereen Lerner at ACS (602) 894-5477.
