Hello! My name is Aleta Lawrence. I'm starting my second season as the
archeological technician for Cibola National Forest, Mountainair Ranger
District, in Mountainair, New Mexico. It's my job to locate, record, and
evaluate historic and prehistoric archaeological sites in the area. I work
in a 100 sq mile (at least) area, from Abo (Salinas Pueblo Missions Nat'l
Monument) on the north to the Gallinas Mtns. on the south. I typically deal
with "mogaszai" prehistoric sites (ie, sites with mixed Mogollon and
Anasazi ceramic assemblages), homestead sites, and mining sites.

I'm interested in learning as much about the prehistory and history of this
region (which is sometimes referred to as "The Salinas Province") as I can.
I'm especially keen on learning to identify diagnostic artifacts: ceramics,
lithics, cans, barbed wire, etc., etc. Also, I'd love to correspond with
others who have experinece and interest in this part of New Mexico. Please
drop me a line.
