Message #119: From: AzTeC SW Archaeology SIG To: "'Matthias Giessler'" Subject: Sixth Albuquerque Book Fair: Food for Thought Date: Wed, 12 Mar 1997 14:36:15 -0700 From: Alan Shalette The Sixth Albuquerque Book Fair will be held on Friday, April 4, 1997 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Saturday, April 5, 1997 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. It will be located at the University of New Mexico«s Continuing Education Center at 1634 University Boulevard, just north of Indian School Road. Plenty of free parking will be available both days. Forty exhibitors from throughout New Mexico and across the country (AZ, CA, CO, ME, TX, & UT) will offer books, maps, photos, prints, and other printed collectibles in many subject areas. New, used, and rare items will be on display at over 70 tables of exhibits. There will also be a silent auction on Friday evening. Three programs on Saturday will be free with admission to the Book Fair. Basics of Book Collecting, a workshop for new collectors, led by Betty Parker, President of the New Mexico Book League, will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. Readings by a Quintet of NM Poets ö Gene Frumkin, V.B. Price, Jeanne Shannon, Arlene Stone, and Nancy Wood ö will be given from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. Focusing and Refining Collections, a workshop for experienced collectors, led by Lou Hieb, Director of the UNM's Center for Southwestern Research, will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Admission will be by $5.00 donation on Friday and $2.00 on Saturday. Sponsored the Maxwell Museum Association, a nonprofit organization, and run by its volunteers, all proceeds will benefit the archives and library of the University of New Mexico«s Maxwell Museum of Anthropology.
