Re: Methods To Draw Communities To Museums

Yes, there really is some kind of family history "Zeitgeist" moving
across the land. More personal and ideosyncratic than genealogies, last
year was when it finally got to merchandisers. Even before then, about
1995, I think, I heard of home sales parties (like Tupperware parties)
featuring quality family photo and scrapbook supplies. And yes, they
are not cheap. A very plain archival quality notebook with a slipcover
is about $30.00.
I have already planned a workshop in conjunction with Arizona Archives
Week (13-19 October). It's called "Help Make History!" and will address
the care and preservation of family documents. The workshop is
scheduled for 7:30 - 9:00 pm, Wednesday, 15 October. It is free, and
open to the public, here in the Pueblo Grande Museum Community Room. I
know that Tempe Historical Museum is also planning a similar program for
that week. If you are interested, I will try to keep you posted on
further developments regarding Arizona Archives Week.
