As of January 9, 1997, the dates and places for three 1997 offerings of the
Archeological Resources Protection Training Program (ARPTP) by the Federal
Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) have been finalized. They are as
follows:

January 27-31 - Pensacola, Florida
February 24-28 - Muscle Shoals, Alabama
March 24 -28 - Kona, Hawaii.

This class is open to all attorneys, law enforcement officers,
archaeologists, and specialists in related fields (e.g. anthropologists,
curators, historians, historical architects) who are employed by federal,
tribal, Native Hawaiian, Native Alaskan, state, or local government
agencies. The tuition fee varies with class size. The average fee is $250
or less. Agencies are responsible for all salary, travel, and per diem
costs for employees attending. Anyone interested in attending one of these
classes should contact the FLETC Class Coordinator Woody Jones at
912-267-3042 (no e-mail address). Information on the classes also may be
obtained from Martin McAllister at 406-728-7195, e-mail: ari@bigsky.net.
There will be three or four additional 1997 offerings of ARPTP. Dates
and places for these offerings are not yet finalized. Information on
these classes will be provided to SWA as soon as it is available.
