Message #301: From: AzTeC SW Archaeology SIG To: "'Matthias Giessler'" Subject: Advanced Technologies For Archaeological Analyses Date: Tue, 05 Aug 97 11:32:00 MST From: Nancy Olsen Since [ SWA is ] such a great clearing house for information, a few of us here at UNM were hoping [SWA] could help us get the information out regarding a session at the SAA's in Seattle, 1998, which we are planning. The session focuses on advanced technology in the service of archaeological analyses. We asked Ron Bishop if he would be interested in chairing the session, he answered affirmatively. Then we contacted MURR, Jim Cogswell also has data to present in a paper. Patty Crown is contemplating acting as discussant. We have asked Ron Loehman, material scientist co-director of the Advanced Materials Lab in Albuquerque to be a discussant also. His expertise is ceramics as well. We would like to get the word out to as many people as possible so that they can participate if they wish. Topics do not have to be limited to ceramic analysis, could be lithics or SEM analysis of fibers / pollen / phytoliths etc. Abstracts need to be sent via e-mail toby August 27 so that we can get the package together to send to the SAA organization by Sept. 3. Thanks, Nancy Olsen, Anthro. Dept., UNM.
