The National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade (NCLIFT) and the 
Centro Juridico para el Comercio Interamericano (JURICI) have just completed 
a comparative study of hazardous waste characterization in the United States 
and Mexico.

The study examines how both countries define hazardous wastes and related 
topics, their classification, the listings provided under different 
regulations, how mixtures are treated, provisions covering importation and 
exportation, and an overview of the requirements applicable to generators, 
transporters, owners and operators of hazardous waste related facilities, as 
it relates to waste characterization.
