The National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade (NCLIFT) and the
Centro Juridico para el Comercio Interamericano (JURICI) have just completed
a comparative study of hazardous waste characterization in the United States
The study examines how both countries define hazardous wastes and related
topics, their classification, the listings provided under different
regulations, how mixtures are treated, provisions covering importation and
exportation, and an overview of the requirements applicable to generators,
transporters, owners and operators of hazardous waste related facilities, as
it relates to waste characterization.
The documents are available in both English and Spanish. The United States
analysis can be found at:
The Mexican analysis can be found at:
Questions about the documents should be directed to Amy Mignella, Project
Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
