Message #230: From: AzTeC SW Archaeology SIG To: "'Matthias Giessler'" Subject: UNM Southwest Archaic Conference October 1996 -- CFP Date: Sat, 13 Jul 96 17:09:00 MST Encoding: 30 TEXT From: David A. Jr Phillips This is a formal call for papers for the Conference on the Southwest Archaic, which will take place at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque on October 24-26, 1996. Each contributed paper will be allotted 20 minutes. In addition, submittal of proposals for posters is encouraged, particularly for topics that lend themselves to visual presentation. Posters will follow the standard SAA format with regard to size, and will be set up on the first day of the conference for the duration. As there is time for only a few papers, the organizing committee will review submitted proposals and select those considered most appropriate to the conference. The conference will emphasize three topics (1) time-space systematics (including classification and chronology building); (2) economic modeling (including subsistence, technology, and mobility); and (3) explanation (including evolutionary ecology, use of analogy, and demography). For your paper or poster to be considered, please submit an abstract or proposal of not more than 100 words to: Patrick Hogan, Office of Contract Archaeology, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM 87131. Other aspects of the conference will include invited papers, a keynote address by Bruce Smith, and workshops designed to foster cooperation and information exchange among persons involved in Archaic research. To obtain a registration form, please contact David Phillips at (505) 254-1115 or by email email@example.com.
