From its original use as an opera house, the building first transitioned to silent films and, later, to a more modern movie theater. More renovations occurred in the 1960s and 1980s. In late August, a contractor for the City of Prescott took on what may be the largest renovation in the history of the Elks Opera House. The $850,000 project that the Prescott City Council approved earlier in the summer got under way about two and a half weeks ago.
